Welcome to Wyke

Just to say welcome to all the first-year students and welcome back to all returning students.

We hope you all settle quickly, and that this year has less disruptions so you get to experience all that Wyke has to offer.

Starting college, although exciting can also be daunting and some of you may feel apprehensive. This is understandable it is a big step. Try to remember this is a fresh start for all and a fantastic opportunity to start again and be who you want to be.

One big change at Wyke is having free periods. Some students find this time the most challenging until they make friendship groups. Enrichments are a great way to keep busy and to meet more people outside of your lessons. The library is also a great place to catch up with work or even get ahead with some reading around your subjects. We will also have wellbeing sessions for you to access.

Wyke’s wellbeing team also have a fresh start this year. We have a fantastic new Wellbeing Hub and we are based in M1. We offer Counselling, 1:1 support with the wellbeing practitioner as well as small group work. Remember wellbeing support is for all – we can all improve our own wellbeing. The support within college is for all students to access as well as lots of digital support available for you too.

You can also contact us at wellbeing@wyke.ac.uk or pop to see us in M1.
