Setting Goals and Keeping Focussed

Looking forward and making plans keeps you focused and helps to keep you feeling well. As we approach the next chapter in our lives think about what you want to achieve. What are your goals for the next few months, the next 6 months or the next year. Choose smart achievable goals and identify how you will meet those goals.

Setting goals gives you motivation and helps you to plan your time. Visualising what you want to achieve will help you to stay focused.

Follow this formula to create your goals;

Specific – Clearly identify your goal

Measurable – Define the goal in measurable terms

Attainable – Choose goals that are realistic and manageable

Relevant – Make sure the goal is something you really want and is important to you

Time bound – Decide the time frame to meet your goal

If this feels slightly overwhelming, start small. Make yourself a to do list, identify the tasks you need to or want to complete and put them into order of most important first. To do lists help you to keep organised and focused.
