Kooth.com is here to help throughout December and is also available across the holiday period offering Free, Safe and Anonymous Wellbeing Support for any Young Person whatever their concerns or worries.Our Service is available to support Young People aged 11-18 . The Kooth website is available 24/7, 365 days of the year, giving Young People access to articles, discussion boards, peer to peer support and self-help activities, alongside the opportunity to contribute to all parts of the site. Young People can also speak, via text based chat, with one of our online counsellors or emotional wellbeing practitioners between 12 noon and 10pm Monday-Friday and between 6pm and 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes our chat service times are subject to change during the holiday period, please see below our online chat availability over Christmas and New Year. kooth.com

White Ribbon Day - 25th November 2021

Thursday 25th November is White Ribbon Day which is followed by a 16 days of action initiative to end male violence against women. Each year, thousands of people, organisations and education establishments make the White Ribbon Promise, wear a White Ribbon and raise awareness. World Mental Health Day 2021

Sunday 10th October 2021 marks World Mental Health Day. We hope you have all got involved with the stand the Student Executive organised and have been wearing yellow today and have donated to help charities that support young people when they most need them. Welcome to Wyke

Just to say welcome to all the first-year students and welcome back to all returning students. We hope you all settle quickly, and that this year has less disruptions so you get to experience all that Wyke has to offer. Starting college, although exciting can also be daunting and some of you may feel apprehensive. This is understandable it is a big step. Try to remember this is a fresh start for all and a fantastic opportunity to start again and be who you want to be. One big change at Wyke is having free periods. Some students find this time the most challenging until they make friendship groups. Enrichments are a great way to keep busy and to meet more people outside of your lessons. The library is also a great place to catch up with work or even get ahead with some reading around your subjects. We will also have wellbeing sessions for you to access. Setting Goals and Keeping Focussed

Looking forward and making plans keeps you focused and helps to keep you feeling well. As we approach the next chapter in our lives think about what you want to achieve. What are your goals for the next few months, the next 6 months or the next year. Choose smart achievable goals and identify how you will meet those goals. Setting goals gives you motivation and helps you to plan your time. Visualising what you want to achieve will help you to stay focused. Follow this formula to create your goals; S pecific – Clearly identify your goal M easurable – Define the goal in measurable terms A ttainable – Choose goals that are realistic and manageable R elevant – Make sure the goal is something you really want and is important to you T ime bound – Decide the time frame to meet your goal If this feels slightly overwhelming, start small. Pride Awareness Month

June 2021 is Pride awareness month. Pride is celebrated each June in honour of the Stonewall Uprising, which took place in 1969 in Manhattan. There have been great developments in the LGBTQ community and here at Wyke we promote the equality and diversity of all our students, and we expect all students to feel safe and supported.
